PNG input, smaller output
Re-saving a PNG as PNG rarely helps much because the format is lossless. This page accepts PNG and writes a smaller JPG or WebP so screenshots and exports can clear upload caps. Transparency is not preserved in JPG; choose WebP output when you must keep alpha and the destination supports WebP.
For icons that must stay PNG, simplify the image (fewer colors, smaller dimensions) in an editor, or accept that a lossless format has a floor on size. For photographs mistakenly saved as PNG, conversion plus compression is the right path.

Why not keep PNG?
PNG stores every pixel losslessly. Re-encoding PNG usually stays large. JPG and WebP can actually get smaller.
What happens to transparency?
JPG fills transparent pixels with white. WebP can keep transparency. Choose WebP if you need a smaller file with an alpha channel.
Are files uploaded?
No. Compression runs in this browser. Closing the tab discards the files.
